Question:

we have a log home built in 1973, it is milled log with the logs being 3x5. We made the mistake and had it 3/4 covered stained 4 years ago. It looks as though the house has been painted. We now want to remove the heavy duty stain, and then apply a new treatment.
Can we powerwash and then apply linseed oil? We live in central wyoming.
thank you

Answer:

You should corn cob blast and not power wash. DO NOT use Linseed Oil. It promotes black mold growth. Spend the money and geta good quality log home stain like Lifeline from Perma Chink.

I stained my log style home (log siding) and on a couple of sides it looks terrible, stain is coming off. I wish to re-stain with another color, more natural. What do I have to do to take this stain off so as to re-stain?
