Question:

We are restoring a log home in Canada and I am wondering what the minimum length the log ends should be? Should they be uniform in length? Is there any benenfit to trimming them to expose new wood before staining and sealing the log ends?
Thank you.

Answer:

You do not want them to stick out past the overhangs and they should be sanded smooth to tighten grain before staining.
